SM2010: Rich Girls, Idiots, and Tests

This week, a few more past contenders square off against another group of newbies for the chance to continue on in the greatest fagfest the internet has ever known. Here is your week in review:

Group A and B – 8/8 is just completely unfair on A Side, I mean, Yui Hirasawa (K-ON!!), chief airhead of the series and the runner-up of last year’s tournament, against a couple of girls from GA and Negima. Why is Negima even in still? Yui crushes the competition by only two votes less than Shana a week earlier with 448. Side B sees Kana “The XO” Ikeda from Saki tear down a couple girls from When the Seagulls Cry and some girl from Taisho Baseball Girls. She didn’t Yui Crush them, but she proves Saki is still a force this year, much to some people’s dismay.

Group A and B – 8/9 sadly for poor Tsubasa “Cat” Hanekawa from Bakemonogatari, she was taken out by a small margin by Ikaros (Sora No Otoshimono) I dunno about 2ch, but 4chan animufags loved Bakemonogatari, and although half of them probably can’t vote because 2ch are fags, Tsubasa Cat was a favorite, if everyone didn’t dump her for Stapler Girl. Side B gets lost in Albuquerque as Isumi Saginomiya (Hayate no Gotoku) easily defeats Kaoru “IT’S A REVERSE TRAP” Daichi (Ladies x Butlers) along with two others.

Group A and B – 8/10, Baka To Test To Shoukanjuu debuts this year to snare their first win with Minami Shimada, who in going up against Karen Araragi (Bakemonogatari) and two others, managed to break away for the right to take on Nagi on 9/15. Side B’s Bakemonogatari entry comes in the form of the silent but apparently deadly Shinobu Oshino draining the blood out of bookworm Nodoka Miyazaki (Negima), Ryouko Asakura (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya), andKoihime Musou‘s Ryuubi Gentoku. Predictions were made for a double-feature for Bakemonogatari, but it’s good to know there is still love for the BakaTest girls.

Group A and B – 8/11, was no contest for twintail Nagi Sanzenin (Hayate no Gotoku) outgunning Takahashi’s sister Nazuna from Working!. No one was susprised. Side B pits rivals Himari Noihara and Kuesu Jinguuji from Omamori Himari against Kaori Senou (Saki) and some other girl. Surprisingly, in a very close-quarters vote, Noihara squeaks out the win to put Team Omamori on the map this year.

The tournament takes a breather for a few days for Japan’s Comic Market, but action resumes on 8/16 with Groups C and D, where TACOS Kataoka and HAMSTER Nishizawa square off, as well as other favorites like Himeji, Nodoka, Maria, and Hinagiku. I for one welcome our pretty pink princess overlords.
